Abandonware France is a site dealing with games released before 2000 based in France. It was founded on June 28, 2000.

Why It abadon us[edit | edit source]

  1. Let's start with the most important problem this website is struggling with, namely it is afraid of platforms such as Steam, Gog or Origin, and although it is not as bad as in the case of My Abandonware, it is still worth noting.
  2. The site is entirely in French and there is no way to change the language anywhere, so if you don't know French you won't be able to understand anything without the goggle translator.
  3. Very bland interface which can sometimes cause some problems with finding the download link.
  4. The homepage looks like a mess and doesn't have much in common with older games. Sometimes they try to put a vibe from any cartoon like Barbie on the site.
  5. As far as emulation help is concerned, it's even worse than My Abandonware as they don't seem to even mention anything about compatibility like Abandonia.
  6. This site rarely adds games from the years after 2000, so it seems to be a rather poor site for looking for games from the 2000s, more for games from the 80s or 90s, although the above-mentioned problems are rather for games from the 80's.
  7. This site suffers from a similar problem as Abandonia, which is that almost all of the games available on this site can be downloaded from other abandonware sites that offer much more.

Redeeming Qualities[edit | edit source]

  1. They are less fearful than My Abandonware as mentioned above because when a game is available there for free, they also provide the game.
  2. Before the emergence of any platform that allows you to buy a game, this service was more tolerable and was not afraid of anything.
